CADET COMMANDER

Cadet Commander 1987 Bay Roan Gelding
Sire: Hank's Cash Jr. (AQHA)
Dam: She's So Dainty (ApHC)

Cadet Commander is a 1987 Appaloosa gelding. He is a bay, varying from season to season between a deep bay in the winter to a rich, sandy bay in the summer. He has a marbled white blanket on his hips, two hind socks, and a stripe.

Cadet has shown in various competitions since he was a weanling and won a weanling futurity in Massachusetts. His successes have come in trail, hunter under saddle, pleasure horse over fences, showmanship, reining, hunter over fences, and equitation. He even pretended to be a western pleasure horse once at an open show with borrowed tack - and he won the class!

Currently, Cadet is in dressage training with a USDF silver medalist and "R" judge. He is coming along well and should show training level next year. His owner, on the other hand, needs to start at the beginning with Introductory Level classes to get the hang of things before moving up to training level soon thereafter.

Cadet is great on the trail and loves kids. He even did some driving as a youngster. His favorite treats are green Granny Smith apples and pears. Cadet and Kathy are actively Young Cadetparticipating in the ApHC Saddle Log program and look forward to earning awards in the ApHC Dressage Breed Awards Program (and hoping that dressage gets added to the ACAP).

Cadet's pedigree has some royal bloodlines. On the Appaloosa side, he traces back to such foundation horses as Rainey Moon and Colida. On the Quarter Horse side, he goes waaaay back to Traveller, who was General Robert E. Lee's horse in the Civil War. Traveller was a grey mount that carried General Lee through most of the Civil War battles. Cadet also goes back to the great Quarter Horse sire King on his sire's side.
